Suicide is a national public health crisis, and is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States, with over 41,000 reported lives lost to suicide in the US in 2013. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2015). Follow-up that utilizes Crisis Centers has been shown to prevent suicides and provide crucial resources for people in need of follow-up care, while saving money and resources for hospitals.
